Should You Hire a Coach?

Here's Why You Need a Coach

In life, people tend to hire a coach for multiple reasons. It can be about improving their business, mental mindset, finances, spiritual journey, etc. I believe we all had a coach at least once in our lives. You don't think so? Think about the time you were in grade school. You had to take PE (physical education). Yes, they are teachers, but they were also a coach. Their objective was to have you do some form of physical activity for your physical/health well-being, as this leads to positive health benefits. Nonetheless, health coaches are shown to have a drastic and positive impact on many people's lives in today's society.
Harvard recently shared a study indicating the effects of coaching. Some of the outcomes were multiple improvements relating to biomarker risk factors. In other words, body mass index, body weight, HDL & LDL cholesterols, systolic & diastolic blood pressures, waistlines, and cardiorespiratory fitness experienced a positive enhancement. Ideally, before someone experiences these outcomes, their doctor(s)tell them to get a coach or start engaging in physical activities.
Not long ago, I had a client who began working out last week. Her doctor told her to start exercising due to her health conditions. While this was her first time working out, it was clear in what areas she needed improvement. Ideally, this is her second week, and I can see her energy and mood are improving. How? For starters, she is still attending her workout sessions. Many people leave the gym after the first week, especially when it seems "too hard." However, I notice her strength is increasing.
One of the primary chest exercises I have my clients do is the incline bench press. Essentially, this exercise provides better activation towards the chest. Nevertheless, when she started her first session, she was only able to do eight reps with ten pounds. This doesn't sound heavy to many but think about the client's health conditions. However, she's already doing 17.5lbs for six reps by herself. For people with weak joints, this is a challenge, but she's making serious progress. Essentially, I have her using specific training protocols to help her increase her strength, which is helpful for her health condition.
My goal is for her to get up to 25lbs. Once again, this woman is in her mid-50s, so of course, this is a "high task" for her, but I'm more than confident she will achieve this goal. If we were to reverse this scenario and have her figure it out on her own, chances are she would've injured herself, been lost, given up on her fitness goals, and increased her unhealthy health conditions. This is shown throughout surveys, case studies, and physical observation (in gyms).
Logically, this is not a good approach. If you were to hire a coach, wouldn't you want them to guide you throughout the entire journey? Now, let's assume you did hire a coach, and they weren't doing their job correctly or at all, how would you feel? I can imagine being frustrated or financially disappointed. One of the best ways to know if you have a good coach is to examine their ways. In other words, observe if they practice what they preach. This is key. If they don't, avoid them. If they do, keep them, but remember, make sure they look the part.
As a coach, I take pride in crafting effective workout routines for my clients. I've had several people seek me for training. Not because of the routines, but of the knowledge I give them. Many of them never even heard of a deload phase (one of the things I have my clients do). Nonetheless, I make sure my clients are training properly and ensuring they're hitting their fitness goals.
Perhaps you're a person who is looking for a coach. Maybe your goal for the summer is to be lean and have a perfect beach body. Perhaps you're skinny and want to gain muscle but don't know how to do it. No worries. I take all that pressure off of you. In other words, I handle your diet, training, supplement intake, and cardio session. This will help you make a faster transformation with ease. Less stress, more gains.
One of the things I like to do is challenge my clients, and I'm going to do the same for you. If your goal is to look better by the end of spring or lean down in twelve months, I want to offer you an opportunity to sign up for coaching. This is where you and I work together, and make sure you reach your goals. With proper protocols and a simple effective diet, I can assure you that your new body will thank you for investing in it. Once you submit your coaching form, I will reach out to you, discuss your goals, and we'll get straight to work. I'll see you on the other side.
